SONIC Project Launched!

SONIC, a Digital Europe Programme Kicks Off!

On February 16th and 17th 2026, the SONIC (“Security Oriented Nexus for Intelligent Commodity solutions marketplace”) project held its physical kick-off meeting (KoM) at the Athena Research Center in Marousi, Greece. This 36-month EU-funded project, part of the Digital Europe Programme, officially started on January 1st, 2026, following a virtual KoM on January 12th to initiate activities.

The entire consortium participated in the physical KoM, hosted by Prof. Sotiris Ioannidis representing ISI, the project coordinator. The meeting was attended by representatives of all 11 consortium partners and included presentations on the project’s vision and objectives. Partners also discussed the implementation work plan, identified challenges and risks, and reviewed the project schedule.

SONIC seeks to enhance cyber resilience across diverse infrastructures by providing advanced capabilities in threat intelligence, continuous monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, malware analysis, digital forensics, and privacy-preserving analytics. Leveraging AI, machine learning, and secure cryptography, SONIC will offer integrated, portable tools through an intelligent marketplace. This platform will deliver explainable recommendations, facilitate regulatory compliance, and promote collaboration across the EU cybersecurity ecosystem.

These impactful initiatives collectively empower the effective management of cybersecurity challenges and promote a proactive and resilient security posture.
