SONIC Bridges the Gap Between Policy and Technical Implementation

On June 11th, 2026, the SONIC Project successfully hosted its highly anticipated Stakeholders Event. Following a dynamic pre-event campaign showcasing our expert lineup, the event brought together key voices from national authorities, industry leaders, and academia.
Delivered in a successful hybrid format, presentations took place on-site at the ADACOM offices in Athens and shared online to the participants joined online via MS Teams, ensuring broad accessibility.
Key Highlights & Main Takeaways
The agenda covered crucial pillars of modern cyber resilience aiming at bridging the gap between Policy and Technical Implementation:
✔️Welcome & Project Overview: Opened by Nikitas Kladakis (ADACOM SA) and Prof. Sotiris Ioannidis (SONIC Project Coordinator), setting the stage for the project’s mission.
✔️Public Infrastructure & Cross-Border Cooperation: Dimitris Mitropoulos presented GRNET’s Security Blueprint for public services, followed by Panayiota Smyrli (DSA), who explored enhancing security monitoring through cross-border SOC interoperability.
✔️Regulatory & Sector-Specific Insights: Alexandros Kaliontzoglou (Bank of Greece) detailed regulatory developments in digital finance, while Prof. Despoina Polemi (University of Piraeus) tackled emerging cybersecurity challenges within Higher Education Institutions.
✔️Organisational Readiness: Panagiota Lagou (ADACOM SA) concluded the presentations by introducing the Incident Response Management System (IRMS) framework to strengthen threat readiness.
Expanding Our Network & Driving Engagement
The event demonstrated strong community interest, successfully capturing the attention of 71 registered participants across the ecosystem. This impressive level of registration underscores the high relevance of the SONIC project’s objectives among industry professionals and researchers.
The day concluded with an active Open Discussion and Round Table. To leverage this collective expertise, a post-event questionnaire is currently being used to gather strategic feedback from our registrant network. The insights collected will actively guide the next steps and technical priorities of the SONIC project.
